Opening Prayer & Lighting the Candle of Global Concerns

Prayers of Introduction: O God, we recall with thanksgiving the many people whose lives of faith shape our own: For those who choose the way of Christ and in the midst of trial are able to hold on to their hope, we say: Thanks be to God!  For those who speak the truth with courage and conviction and teach us daily that in giving we shall receive; in loving one another we shall be loved; and in offering ourselves for the sake of your vision of peace, all your children shall be safe, we say: Thanks be to God! For those who help us to hear the stories of your people and for the prophets who regularly disturb us and help us examine our living; we say:  Thanks be to God!  For all those saints whose very lives inform our own, we raise our hallelujahs, silently or aloud at this time.

(Time of silence is kept)

And for all those saints who have entered into your Holy rest and with whom we one day hope to be reunited in joy and in peace,

we say:  May it be so, amen!
Individual Remembrance Candle Lighting:  We light these candles in memory of those whose living and dying has brought great joy and hope to our lives.  We will miss them always.  We remember them and how their lives touch and shape our own.
