Time: 9:30 am – 2:30 pm
Location: Olympic Village Square, Vancouver
In search for solutions to this epidemic in our modern society, Beyond the Conversation (BTC) is hosting the 2nd Annual Walk to End Social Isolation. An inclusive, multicultural event that aims to draw the Greater Vancouver community for up to 1,000 people representing different demographics.
At 9:30 am we start at Plaza of Nations (750 Pacific Boulevard). The walk will begin at 10:00am and head along False Creek past Telus World of Science and will finish at the square in Olympic Village near the community centre.
A blessing ceremony from Elder Eugene Harry of Cowichan Tribe will set the tone of the day, followed by welcoming our honorable guests and recognizing our community partners. This day is packed with speakers from different backgrounds who will share their lived stories and expect a group conversation at this event to encourage the participants to identify barriers they believed is contributing to the issues of social isolation, loneliness and mental health and to bring about solutions.
This is why we would like to extend an invitation to you to join our second annual Walk to End Social Isolation, meet our volunteers and share a few words with our participants. If you are unable to attend, we would be happy to accept written greetings for our team to read to the audience.
We promise you a respectful and interested audience of people who, like you, only want what is best for our communities and all of Canada. We would like to hear your ideas, your plans and your suggestions on what we can do to work together and how we can help.
