God of mystery, in the stillness we bring our prayers to you.  Dancing prayers of celebration, childlike prayers of wonder at the beauty we see, at the love we know, at the life we receive as the gift of your grace.  (silence…)

There are other prayers we bring: aching prayers of heartache and sorrow; trembling prayers of worry or fear; groaning prayers too deep for words — said for ourselves, said for others, said for the church and world you love; prayers for the hidden and not so hidden pain only you can heal; prayers for those dear to us; prayers for those beyond our circle of awareness but dear to your heart who struggle for lives of depth & meaning & purpose & right relationship in families, communities and nations.  Prayers for all who struggle to find hope and well-being.  (silence…)

Holy One, Ground of all being, breath new life into all your people, everywhere, that we may be filled with your Spirit and reveal your power and grace, your faithfulness and hope, in our everyday lives.  Fill us with courage and wisdom as we seek to be faithful followers of Jesus.

Continuing in prayer, we turn to the paraphrase of

The Lord's Prayer

Eternal Spirit,

Earth-maker, Pain-bearer, Life-giver,

Source of all that is and that shall be,

Father and Mother of us all,

Loving God, in whom is heaven:

The hallowing of your name echo

through the universe!

The way of your justice be followed

by peoples of the world!

Your heavenly will be done

by all created beings!

Your commonwealth of peace and freedom

sustain our hope and come on earth.

With the bread we need for today, feed us.

In the hurts we absorb from one another forgive us.

In times of temptation and test, strengthen us.

From trials too great to endure, spare us.

From the grip of all that is evil, free us.

For you reign in the glory of the power that is love,

now and forever.  Amen.
