Carcking The Code Sermon Series : Part 2 of 7
Text: Rev. 3:14-22
Sermon Title: “Lukewarm Church”
Communion &Pot-Luck Lunch
Out of 7 churches John addresses, Jesus points to the Laodicean Church, as the one that disgusted Him, saying - “your lukewarm-ness makes me nauseated – I will spit it out of my mouth.”
The Laodicean Christians were living in a wealthy lifestyle but practiced a lukewarm faith, being self-centred. Being rich can be a curse, if it makes us inward-bound. At best, it makes us a good enough Christian and good-enough church.
The letter to Laodicea is a letter to us, especially to those of us living in North America, the wealthiest people in history. It is a wake-up call for those of us who are rich in life but stagnated and stale in our faith.
