"Living the Life of Grande Passion"
-the Passion for Here and Now
Based on Acts 5: 1-11
Theme: The Grande Passion
The story of Ananias and Saphira's death is puzzling. They died because they didn't offer all - kept little for themselves. It seems too harsh. But when seen in the whole context of early church movement, one can begin to understand the larger picture.
This event precedes the pivotal moment of the early church, the beginning of great persecution against the followers of Jesus Christ. And the key question for all: what does it mean to be a follower of Jesus Christ?
Unless they were prepared to offer all, commit all, and risk all in the name of Jesus Christ, they would not be able to withstand the trials that await them in the coming days and years (that lasted for 300 years).
The followers of Jesus Christ follow Jesus without any reservation, any hesitation, and any illusion - by fully committing one's heart, submitting one's mind and offering one's life. In other words, they are called to live the life of grand passion in the name of Jesus Christ and for the sake of Gospel.
