Text: Matthew 3:13-17

Sermon Title: “With 20/20 Resolution”

When Jesus approached John to be baptized, John was overwhelmed with the request and refused, for Jesus is the very one John has been proclaiming and promising to the people. Jesus assured John that it was “the right thing to do.”
Baptizing Jesus was outside of John’s “comfort zone.” But he bent his will to Jesus’ purpose and power and agreed to do what Jesus declared was to “fulfill all righteousness.”
Both Jesus and John acted according to God’s will and God’s good pleasure.
In the new year, God might, God will call us to do weird and wonderful things - that might be way outside of our “comfort zone”, in order to “fulfill all righteousness”. So, we begin this new year and the new decade “With 20/20 Resolution: Pleasing God” – and to hear these words: “You bring me great pleasure.”
