Help Mission & Service partners on the ground provide relief and assist with reconstruction

The United Church of Canada has launched an emergency appeal to provide humanitarian relief to Haiti, Cuba, and nearby Caribbean countries devastated by the impact of Hurricane Matthew. In rapid response the church has sent $20,000 to our partners from the Emergency Response Fund and is appealing for donations and is encouraging prayers throughout the church.

Your donations made through the United Church will be directed to the global ACT Alliance of church-based relief organizations, and to long-standing partners in the region.

Prayer for Hurricane Matthew

Eternal Creator,

Bless the lands bearing the enormous strength of Hurricane Matthew,
and bless the people who love these lands and call them home.

With your help and guidance, may we work to:

Protect the vulnerable and those most affected by the raging rainfall, flash floods, and landslides;

Strengthen those who are able to offer physical, emotional, and spiritual aid; and

Support our partners in ministry who will continue to serve the people and the land long after the storm has passed.

As a mother comforts and protects her young from the dangers of life,
gather us, who are scattered around the world, in love,
and like a loving mother, grant us true wisdom so that we may shield each other from the unimaginable powers of nature.
