Advent  2 (December 8)

Text: Isaiah 11:1-10

Theme: Peace

Sermon Title: *Christmasize Your Life

Synopsis:

The Prophet Isaiah uses small images to describe the coming of the great new messianic king: “A shoot shall come out from the stump of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots (Isaiah 11:1)”; --- and a little child shall lead ---(11:6b)”.

Advent is about roots and shoots – not about big spending spree and big gifts. In this advent season, we need to pay attention to the small voice, the small growth, the small crack, the small table, the small talk, the small town (like Bethlehem), the small change, --- and the Small Child.

We need to Christmasize our life.

*The title, “Christmasize your life” is from Leonard Sweet’s sermon title of the same contained in his Preaching Plus sermon series

We prepare for the coming King in our lives this season by:

Speaking (Voice),

Showing (Vision),

and Embodying (Virus)

the Peace of the Lord to the world.
