The Sacred Space Image
The Sacred Space image was created by the young artist Rosalee Taylor, of Yellowknife , NT . In the spring of 2006 the artist was given photos of the interior and exterior of the church. As well she was given the central line from the Mission Statement created by the congregation in 2001:
"We are open to the unexpected as the Spirit of God moves among us."
She was asked to create an easily reproducible image that would capture the deep spirituality of this faith community. We believe she caught the "Spirit" exactly. Individuals who view the Sacred Space image have found many meanings to help them along in their faith journey. The cross is actually painted in gloss on the original thus only being revealed when the light hits it. When the light hits the cross it is an unexpected reminder of the love of God. Some see the figures in the image as facing forward as though offering the meaning of the cross and the Spirit to all who view the image. Others see the back of the figures, reaching for the Spirit in the form of the dove. Some have identified the central figure as kneeling, while others see a child. The figure on the right could represent Noah releasing the dove over the waters or maybe it is an elder of our church community pointing towards our truth as a church: the Spirit of God.
Colleen Coulter, the Choir Director at Knox, was inspired by the image as Advent services for 2006 were being planned. She wrote an Introit and a Sung Benediction to enhance our worship and add a deeper dimension to the image. The words reveal the openness of the people of this congregation to God.

THIS SACRED SPACE:
INTROIT:
Our lifted hands and hearts lie open,
that we may feel God's spirit touch us once again.
And in this sacred space, held in God's embrace,
We hear and share the word of God's good grace.
We hear and share the word of God's good grace.
SUNG BENEDICTION:
Our lifted hands and hearts lie open,
that we may feel God's spirit touch us once again.
And from this sacred space, held in God's embrace,
We go forth to share the word of God's good grace.
We go forth to share the word of God's good grace.
