PROJECT UPDATE AS OF
                        DECEMBER 9, 2009
At a meeting of the Vancouver City Council on December 1, 2009, the rezoning application for the development properties was passed by a vote of 5 to 2.  The next stage will involve detailed planning and consultation in the process of securing the required building permits.

We are taking this step for three reasons:

The first is to secure our continued presence as a worshipping Christian community in our neighbourhood. A peaceful oasis in a busy world.

The second is to continue to serve the community through programs such as: Healing Touch, Spiritual Spas, Community Lunches, support for First United Church in the downtown east side. We also provide a home for Cubs, Brownies, Sparks, Scouts, Alanon and other groups that offer growth, educational and support services to the broader community.

The third is our objective to continue to supply a place in the community where we can share in the many activities that make our neighbourhood such a pleasant place to live... activities such as Little People’s Preschool, community choirs, dance troupes, yoga groups, drama groups, quilters and many others.

In 2010 we celebrated our centennial as a congregation serving your community.

We are planning to continue that service, and to bring our message of hope and joy, into the next generation.
