Does God have a beard?

Why of course as well as red suspenders and eight flying reindeer. Honestly how did this bearded notion get into our churches? And who says God is a guy? What of the feminine qualities? Where is the “Sophia” of it all? Well theologians have set us straight with this male/female nonsense. God is!! Staggering thought. God is! God is not exclusive, rambling, bearded, mean, angry or punitive. God is beauty and love and grace and joy and …did I say love? Jesus had a message of love. Simple and yet it seems to have challenged centuries of people or else we would all be living in a peaceful world. It seems easier to believe in a guy with a beard who can condemn and withhold heaven rather than try the vulnerable love and kindness, charity and unexpected Grace concept. Oh sorry, yes unexpected Grace is the drawback (or draw forward as some would say). This God stuff leads to moments of pure joy, awesome wonder and delight and it can happen any time…unexpectedly. This God stuff also gives us full life. It just takes courage.
